aka Father John DoeHe was the author (under his pen name) of the “Golden Books,” “Sobriety Without End,” and “Sobriety and Beyond.”
He wrote his fourteen Golden Books back in the 1940s, 50s, and early 60s:  1947-Spiritual Side, 1948-Tolerance. 1949-Attitudes, 1950-Action, 1951-Happiness, 1952-Excuses, 1953-Sponsorship, 1954-Principles, 1955-Resentments
1957-Decisions, 1960-Passion, 1963-Sanity, 1964-Sanctity, 1964-Living.
In “Sobriety and Beyond,” he traces the spiritual roots of A.A. and explains the fundamental and enduring truths contained in the Twelve Steps. This is a great resource for discovering the spiritual contentment, mental peace, and everyday joys to be found in taking the steps.  He used much of his Golden Book writings.
In “Sobriety Without End,” he explains how serenity is the key to long-term sobriety—how to get it, nurture it, and keep it for a lifetime. Father Doe believed that by continually growing both mentally and spiritually, we would strengthen our sobriety and prepare ourselves to deal with all the challenges life has in store for us.
